Yassia Sana et Seydou Koussoube

Tigoung Nonma members since its creation in 2005, Seydou and Yassia are potters who, without their own workshop, work from home. Seydou became a craftsman at the age of 26 and Yassia at 18.

Seydou and Yassia were not born with their disability, they were both victims of polio (Seydou at the age of 7 and Yassia, at the age of 4).

The two have worked together for over 15 years and use clay, a home-made potter’s wheel, and a small oven to create their crafts. The men’s work is sold from their homes and in the Tigoung Nonma shop.

Both are married and have two children each. Neither went to school – Seydou explains that this was because their parents did not have the financial means to enrol them into school.
