Hamidou Kaboré

Born in 1969, Hamidou makes batiks and dyes fabrics and clothes using the traditional Burkinabe technique of Bogolan (using all natural ingredients and fermented mud).

He became disabled in 2004 following a road traffic accident. In January 2008, he turned his hand to crafts instead of begging in the street; like many other disabled people living in Burkina Faso.

Hamidou became a member of Tigoung Nonma (TN) in 2009. He received training in batik thanks to Handicap Solidaire Burkina; Tigoung Nonma’s mother organization. He works from home, but sells his crafts through TN and on the side of the road near to his home.

Hamidou never went to school and does not have a wife.
